It’s that time of year again football fans! Time to dust off your favorite player’s jersey and hit the recliner. It’s September, and with the football season closing in on us, we can only wonder who will win during week one. Last year, Peyton Manning was out all season due to a neck injury. This year, Peyton is back, taking center field with the Denver Broncos. How will he fair with this team? Is it the right fit for him? Only time will tell, but from what I’m seeing in the pre-season, it seems like the team chemistry is right on target. Will it be enough to take down Ben and the Steelers in week one, though? That is the question!
Last season, “Big Ben” Roethlisberger threw for 4,077 yards with 21 touchdown passes. In 2010, Manning also threw for 4,077 yards with 33 touchdown passes. Numbers don’t lie – the match up is going to be a tough one. There’s no question that both of these men are worthy competitors, but with Peyton gone all of last season, will that effect his game play? From what I’ve seen so far, I’m thinking not. Now, we all recall last season during the play-offs: The Broncos took on the Steelers and defeated them in overtime, marking the shortest overtime in NFL history. An 80-yard pass to Demaryius Thomas brought the Steelers’ road to the SuperBowl to an abrupt end. It was a sad day for Steelers fans everywhere. I do believe Denver earned that win, but I also believe the Steelers will retaliate this season in week one. Along with a few new recruits, both teams are poised for a win.
If I had to make a prediction, I’d say Pittsburgh will win by a field goal. But don’t simply take my word for it! Be sure to catch all the action Sunday, September 9th at 8:20 PM EDT. Are you ready for some football?
