Want to know how your favorite team stacks up? Check out the team rankings, where we rank every team, 1 through 120. Giving 50% weight to a team’s record, 30% to opponent’s record, and 20% to an opponent’s opponent’s record, and “extra credit” for beating a ranked team, we have arrived at the 1 through 124 rankings.
The “extra credit” is awarded as follows:
- 5 points are added to an overall score for each victory over a team currently ranked 1-5 in the AP Top 25.
- 4 points are added to an overall score for each victory over a team currently ranked 1-5 in the AP Top 25.
- 3 points are added to an overall score for each victory over a team currently ranked 1-5 in the AP Top 25.
- 2 points are added to an overall score for each victory over a team currently ranked 1-5 in the AP Top 25.
- 1 point are added to an overall score for each victory over a team currently ranked 1-5 in the AP Top 25.
Games against lower opponents (FCS, Division II or III, or NAIA) opponents are counted in the standings for purposes team winning percentage, as follows: (1) counted as 0.67 of a FBS win and 1.33 of a FBS loss for FCS games, (2) counted as 0.5 of a FBS win and 1.5 of a FBS loss for Division II games, and (3) counted as 0.33 of a FBS win and 1.67 of a FBS loss for NAIA games. However, for sake of fairness, those opponents’ win percentage and opponent’s opponent’s win percentage are not counted.
